I am too impulsive, and I don't know where it comes from

Question

Dear venerable sir (I can’t say “Master” right away, can I?),

You know what? I am too impulsive, and I don’t know where it comes from. I
do everything on the spur of emotion; it’s irresistible. In fact, I am
telling myself right now that perhaps I should have thought things through and
said everything in one message instead of sending fifteen emails.
But anyway. I feel things are truer when they are
spontaneous, so I end up falling out with everyone. I feel
as if truth is speaking to me. It is very unsettling. In fact, I
never do zazen in the usual sense: sitting and meditating, because I am
terrified of not being true to myself. I will try this
evening.
