Question

Hello, Master Kosen. A therapist told me to work on humility, but I don’t know how to approach it. What is the definition of humility? Thank you, with or without an answer!

Answer from Master Kosen

Humility has its roots in the Latin word humus: the earth. Our feet all point in the same direction, toward the center of the earth, so we are all united by our earth.

But our heads each point in different directions, so we are all separated by our heads—hence the expression “having a big head.”

That is why sampai (the prostration in which the head touches the earth) is very effective energetically and psychologically.
