Question
There is a socially engaged Zen Buddhism (particularly in the United States), openly “left-wing,” whose values focus on struggling against the values of capitalism. This approach starts from the principle that if life is suffering, we must awaken the Buddha within us and become socially involved with the most disadvantaged and in their struggles for liberation. How can we become involved in this way in France’s current situation?

Answer from Master Kosen
Sincere commitment to the Way naturally leads to social engagement, which is not necessarily defined by left or right, but finds expression for each person according to their personality and opportunities.
