Question
QUESTION:
Dear Master Kosen, I have been told that when practicing zazen, I should not give in to frustration if my practice does not match what I want. My practice is what it is, and I should not pollute it with my own goals and struggles. How can I distinguish this way of practicing from paying very little attention to how I practice? Doing my best seems to involve paying attention to what I accomplish, but apparently that is not the way. Or is it?
Thank you in advance for your answer!
Best regards.

Answer from Master Kosen
Do your best without expecting anything from it. That is an essential point of Zen.
