Question
How can you practice zazen if you cannot sit in the lotus position? I keep trying to make do (sitting cross-legged or in a sort of half lotus) and become more flexible, but I practice less and less because being unable to assume this position, which is Zen, really frustrates me and prevents me from concentrating.
Isn’t there a method or specific exercises to help achieve the position? I really want to practice zazen. I know that one’s state of mind remains very important, but if you know a way to achieve the posture, I would be grateful.

Of course, the posture is the most important thing. Look at some exercises on my site under “Zen and Yoga” that can prepare you for the posture.
