Fear of death

Master Kosen – Published on June 5 – death

Question

Hello,

For no particular reason, I have been plagued by fear of death for three years now. Every passing second, I keep replaying the movie of my end. Over time, this is very exhausting and it is "eating away" at my life. I can no longer breathe or do anything freely without this damned thought.
Do you have any advice to help these frightening thoughts disappear, thoughts that keep me from living? I have tried mindful breathing and repeating positive phrases to myself, with no effect. Do you also think zazen could help me, even though it is said that zazen must be practiced without a goal? Thank you for reading.

Answer from Master Kosen

Zazen could certainly help you, but also, since fear is linked to the kidneys, you should strengthen their energy with Chinese soups.
