Question
Hello Master Kosen,
During a talk at a sophrology seminar in Montpellier in 2013, with great humor you quoted a sutra passage that said:
"Studying sutras, observing precepts, and even practicing zazen are incapable of extinguishing human desires, fears, and anxieties."
... and you added, "If even Buddha says it is useless...!!!???... but of course there is more to those words..."
It had been a while since I laughed so hard... alone in front of a video!
What joy to "blow apart" the seriousness, expectations, and demands that blind me.
Until then my favorite saying was "Don't believe what I tell you; experience it for yourselves" (I hope I am not distorting those wise words too much!).
Today, the words you quoted delight me, and I would like to know more:
- Where can I find this text?
- What comes next?
Thank you with all my heart for that moment of laughter... I sense it is a fundamental key on the path, and I will try not to forget it again... (more demands! Ha.)

The bamboo's shadow sweeps the earth without ever stirring up dust.
A moonbeam plunges into the pond without ever disturbing its surface.
