Question
Greetings, Master.
In his commentary on Raihai Tokuzui, Master Deshimaru writes: “Even if you practice zazen, if the direction is wrong, it is not effective.”
I feel at peace having found the Way, and I try to do things as well as I can. But sometimes this point worries me, especially when I have to practice alone for a while.

The right direction is the faith you have in your mind. Since you practice it, you know the fundamentals of zazen—body posture, breathing, attitude of mind—so put them into practice in the phenomena you encounter. You must not be afraid of making mistakes; you must not be afraid. Follow a master. Meeting the master is intuitive and expresses a love that overflows from your heart. That is all; there is no time to make things complicated. When you practice alone, follow the same instructions he has given you.
