What is the point of receiving ordination from a Zen “master”? Isn’t practicing zazen and reading Deshimaru’s books enough? Once you have understood through practicing zazen that everything is emptiness, and that the mind is a succession of thought and non-thought, or that there is nothing to clean because
the original mind is nothing but emptiness, why seek to wear the kesa?
