Question
Does not worrying about tomorrow and accepting the fundamental insecurity of our condition mean it is all right to take financial risks, always agree to requests for financial help, or act as a guarantor for someone when we are not sure we can fulfill that commitment?

Master Kosen’s answer
Although we must know how to take risks and even sometimes sacrifice ourselves for others, it is better, if we have the strength and ability, to think things through and try to shape our future instead of being subjected to it.
The master teaches that the future is like a blank, untouched page: the calm of emptiness, where nothing has yet manifested.
Shaping your future means making new decisions, dreaming of a new future, and putting it on that blank page.
Being subjected to your future means believing it already exists and resembles the past.
