Question
What is karma, Master? Is it really possible, all at once, through our own will,
to leave our old life, the millions of connections between our habits, and cut off
our karma? When I was ordained, I truly believed it was. But many sacred
books show that it is impossible all at once, and that only step by step can you
learn to climb each stair and disconnect every automatic conscious response.

Answer from Master Kosen
The best way to cut off karma is to practice zazen and maintain observation throughout everyday life. Karma naturally diminishes. Make a habit of zazen every day, and the millions of habits are transformed. It is a powerful alchemy. Do not think too much; practice.
