What if awakening were still only a dream?

Question

What if awakening, being awake, were still only a dream? In other words, what if everything
were only futility, smoke, everything only vanity, as
Solomon said in the Bible?

That is, on waking from a long and tedious dream (your words in a
mondo), I realize that in the end everything is still only a dream, mere
incense vapor, impermanence, and everything begins again… eternally.

Help me, Master Kosen.

You see, it is like a hall of mirrors. I see my reflection in the mirror,
reflected in the other mirror, and reflected infinitely by an infinity of mirrors.

The reflection is not me but the reflection of the reflection of the reflection of the reflection… But
I am only a dream.

Help me, Master Kosen.

Answer from Master Kosen

If you look at the reflections in the mirrors, trying to understand something and detect reality in them, there is certainly a problem. But if you stop looking outside and feel things from your center, then you will find peace and reason.
