Question
Master,
Forty years after the overthrow of Salvador Allende's democratically elected government by Pinochet and his supporters, who killed and tortured innocent people, especially the poor and those without resources... even today we uphold the slogan "neither forgiveness nor forgetting"... As monks and bodhisattvas of the 21st century, living day to day in society, should we consider this phrase, "neither forgiveness nor forgetting," a principle to follow?
Thank you, Master!

Master Kosen’s answer
Of course, there are acts and behaviors that must be neither forgiven nor forgotten. This does not contradict the doctrine of karma, which holds that actions bring consequences.
Even if a person makes amends and changes, and we might eventually forgive them, the act itself must be neither accepted nor forgiven nor forgotten.
