Question

What do you think of the concept linking humans and drugs? In this context, I mean more specifically the use ancient civilizations made of so-called “sacred” psychoactive substances: cannabis, mushrooms, ayahuasca, etc. What role do you think this use serves?

Thank you.

Answer from Master Kosen

It provides easy access to a certain state of consciousness, but it also poisons the body and distorts perception, often negatively. Then, when the trip is over, it lowers the body’s energetic capacities, and eliminating the substance takes time. No trace remains of concrete knowledge permanently integrated, so ultimately there is no deep value.

True spiritual development requires great effort and perseverance. Then the ability to change states of consciousness is integrated and controlled, and it does not distort true reality. It is one hundred percent positive, all the more so because it gives energy instead of taking it away.

Nevertheless, certain psychoactive plants can be used medicinally if one knows the right dose and moment.
