Question
I recently read a newspaper article titled “The Afterlife Put to the Test by Science.” In it, Matthieu Ricard is asked, “How does Buddhism approach extraordinary phenomena, specifically the possibility of contacting deceased loved ones?” He answers, among other things, that “according to Tibetan Buddhism, these people are dealing with psychic remnants, not the deceased person’s consciousness itself.” Could you please explain what “psychic remnants” means? Thank you!!!
Danielle.

Master Kosen’s answer
He is talking about what we call ghosts.
But I do not think that really has anything to do with what you are describing.
Some people do indeed communicate with the deceased who are in the light and can even guide and help them.
When someone begins an answer with “According to Tibetan Buddhists,” we can easily infer they let others think for them and their judgment on the matter is limited.
