I would like to know the meaning of the name "Kosen."
Years ago this name came to me through a poem, and I would like to confirm that it means "the ray of light uniting heaven and earth," as I was told then.
I found this site by chance, and discovering that a great master bears this name was a lovely surprise.

Answer from Master Kosen
At first Master Deshimaru named me Kozan: straighten the mountain. Then he named me Kosen: light of the sage. Then he changed the ko, "hikari," meaning light, to the Ko of Kodo. This ko means SUPER, or promote, raise upward, and also sense of humor. KoSen is the transmission of the ko of Kodo and the sen of Taisen.
