"Love yourself"

Master Kosen – Published on May 27 – love-and-sexuality

Question

I am in high school, and for the past few days I have felt that something is wrong. I see other people talking, flirting, and chatting for hours without getting tired.
Meanwhile, I feel uninspired, with nothing to say.
Of course, I am not the only one who is reserved and finds it easier to live in the moment alone than with someone else, but lately it has been bothering me. I feel…
I am having a hard time with it.
And phrases like “Love yourself,” “Believe in yourself,” or “Just talk about anything and everything; it’s easy” do not help.
So is there some breakthrough I need to have? Something that will finally make me feel better and reasonably interesting when I am with someone?

Answer from Master Kosen

When you reprogram yourself with something like “I love myself,” at first it seems to contradict the reality of your basic programming, which tells you that you are worthless. But keep going undeterred, a thousand times, ten thousand times, and at some point, in a fraction of a second, this new programming will appear along with the reality that goes with it, even more magnificent than anything you could have imagined before.
Then you have always loved yourself, and you clearly know what that means. It is magnificent.
