Question

Isn’t meditation a maneuver by the mind to cut itself off from facts?

Doesn’t it merely reinforce the ego?

The ego—don’t all our problems come from our mind?

Meditating: isn’t it trying to forget ourselves completely for a few moments to find the happiness we seek so much? But by meditating, don’t we become enslaved?

Hello, fred 953,

There are many assumptions in your question-answer. Zazen means encountering the concrete world of the body and abandoning the mind’s world of assumptions. Directly.
Best regards,

Kosen
