Is there a "limit"?

Question

My question concerns my constant changes of state, specifically
states of confusion. On the one hand, I am a computer engineer—well, still
finishing my degree :P. I learn mathematical formulas and use reasoning
constantly and conscientiously. On the other hand… perhaps I want to forget
all this because it is a “burden.” So neither side,
intuition nor reason, is comfortable with the other. Perhaps it all depends on finding
the right moments and knowing which is most suitable for each… Yet
a state of balance does not lie there either. So tell me, where
is it?
Another kind of “chaos” is the craving for power and knowledge of the
world, a thirst for “magical powers” that would make me special compared with others. This
creates a state of confusion and anxiety. Yet it is hard to realize
we are in that state, because believing everything that empowers the ego can be very intoxicating
to the mind. Are you familiar with this state? And
if so, is there a “limit”?
