Question
I always wonder whether it is good to proselytize for
Zen practice. Since it is something ultimate in terms of self-knowledge
and personal realization, I always feel driven to
promote it. When someone has problems and sees a therapist, I always
recommend practicing at a Zen dojo. People see me as a bit of a
guru, and it is quite frustrating to see them miss out… To see them
keep searching everywhere for something simply hidden within them. Sometimes
I reluctantly tell myself: What does it matter! It is their destiny, and I don’t
have to change it. Besides, could a beginner convince them with
simple words?
What would you do in this situation?
What simple words could touch them?
Thank you, Master, for your time and kindness. Gassho.

If those simple words do not come spontaneously, then say nothing.
