How to "truly" give thanks

Master Kosen – Published on November 30 – self-and-others

Question

Hello, Master,

I would like to ask you this question: How do you thank someone "from the bottom of your heart" who has saved your life through a generous act?
I would like to be able to do something in return:
for the surgeon who enabled me to live again without chronic pain by going beyond what was planned,
for the hypnotherapist who kept me from being consumed by suffering so intense that nothing can withstand it,
for my friend who stood by me without fail, even though it hurt him to see me like that,
for all those people who have "carried" me through this life.
I would like to learn to give thanks truly, not just with a few kind, superficial words, when even a thousand pai could not express my gratitude.
In the meantime... Thank you.

Answer from Master Kosen

If it comes from the bottom of your heart, you can do it better than anyone!

But thank them for allowing you to discover so much love and gratitude in your heart, and for the fact that this very thing has changed and will truly change your life.

Alive at last. Sometimes there is something so precious in being human!
