Free from feelings of attachment and loss?

Master Kosen – Published on May 11 – suffering

Question

About the gut-wrenching suffering when loved ones suffer terribly and are swept away like straw by illness and death... and, more broadly, all the suffering raging on Earth...

What about this cessation of suffering spoken of in Buddhism's foundations (Four Noble Truths...)?

Who can claim to be truly free from feelings of attachment, loss...? Even if, in the Land of the Buddhas, this suffering has no noumenon... unless I live alone in the mountains with no empathy for sentient beings, or sit in zazen 24/7, it seems I cannot escape it?!

Thank you. Gassho!
