I have always thought Zen was a practice of Islam, but today, after reading your definitions of zazen and Zen, I am certain. I hope you will research this subject because we Muslims practice zazen; only the name is different (soufia in Arabic), but we have the same principles. Another thing, and what a coincidence: “dhyana” is an Arabic word meaning religion, and we also have the word “jhana”—I do not know whether that is how it is spelled—
(a word meaning to be at the center of the universe in Japanese), which means paradise in Arabic.
I think it would be very interesting to research this subject.
