Dear Kosen,
Will you give Roland the opportunity to explain his point of view to us,
so that we can form an opinion? This seems important to me. I
think to myself: perhaps Kosen is right; he seems sincere and seems to base his lineage on
the highest ethics. But I cannot imagine Roland “betraying”
his master, seeking Japanese recognition, wanting to
disavow you by ordaining someone a second time, etc. Even if the facts are true,
are the intentions you attribute to them really theirs? This needs
checking against Roland’s reply.
I practice at Roland’s sesshins, and with both your agreement and his,
I come to one of your dojos every day. I see no
fundamental difference, nor any in the rituals, simply different
expressions. I now find myself in a difficult situation because
until now everything was going well, with the greatest respect for differences,
both in practicing at your dojo and with Roland.
