Question
The nature of every species is to expand until it reaches its limits, and humans are the same. However, humans can use their brains to disregard these natural limits. This is called intelligence. Thus humans seem continually to want more, to expand infinitely, and most of our mental capacity is used to solve this problem: how to satisfy all our desires, and how to want still more. All this “development” leads to other species’ extinction and, from a pessimistic perspective, eventually to humanity’s own extinction.
So what makes humans superior to others, when today our actions seem less and less reasonable?

Answer from Master Kosen
If humans realize their true nature, their consciousness and intelligence make them superior to other animals. But this uniquely human consciousness is a double-edged sword. It becomes harmful and turns against them if they cannot awaken to their true vocation as human beings.
