Question
Master Deshimaru said there were two kinds of love. Love with a
lowercase l, directed purely toward oneself, always seeking gain, being superior to
the other, possessing the other, asking everything of them for oneself: sex and
so on. And Love with a capital L: merging with the universe, giving without
intending to receive, forgetting oneself for the other; metta and so on. Could
you tell me what love means to you? How do
you integrate it into your zanshin practice? Ultimately, how can we truly love
without falling into the traps of “I want you” and “YOU are
everything to me”?

Answer from Master Kosen
What spirituality calls love is a universal energy that has nothing to do with emotional attachment.
