What can we do about noise?

Master Kosen – Published on January 6 – practice

Question

There is more and more noise on my street—cars, motorcycles, the neighbor’s TV—
and it bothers me when I meditate in my front room. During
zazen, it feels as though it gets “amplified,” and instead of letting it pass and forgetting it,
sometimes my mind amuses itself by recognizing the words of a song
or the voices I hear. What can we do about noise? Use
earplugs?

Thank you.
