Question
Hello, Master,
I am writing after reading a question you were asked about smoke in the dining hall and dormitories.
You were very clear that it does not bother you and that you yourself no longer smoke, but it made me think about the repercussions smoking can have on those around the smoker. Beyond the smell or smoke, it has been scientifically demonstrated that smoking is dangerous to everyone who breathes the smoke, not just those who "enjoy" smoking. In that sense, it is less about tolerating others (from nonsmokers' perspective) than about not harming or hurting others (from smokers' perspective).
Aren't love and consideration for all beings among the foundations? Shouldn't we do everything we can to spare others the suffering an illness such as cancer can cause?
Thank you in advance for your valuable time and any answer you may offer.
Warm greetings from Argentina,
Claudio
