Smoking in the dining hall or dormitories

Question

Hello, Stéphane. I recently attended the sesshin you led at the temple, which I enjoyed overall, but one thing puzzles me:
Why do you allow smoking in the dining hall and dormitories? Isn't that, for most people, a form of ego asserting itself more strongly than respect for rules applied elsewhere in all public premises?
Thank you, Stéphane, for answering me.
Gassho! Claudie

Answer from Master Kosen

For my part, I no longer smoke, but other people's smoke does not bother me.
