Question

Dear Kosen,

Thank you for your attention.
Contact with the Dharma is simple and direct: just being present here and now.
The zazen posture, robes, organization of the Zen sect, Zen habits... even if excellent, don't they complicate actualizing the Way? After fifteen years of practice and monk ordination, I gave it all up; I could no longer bear that world. I continue practicing alone daily at home, following the breath in everyday life. Isn't there a simpler, more direct way than Zen's approach?
Gassho.

Answer from Master Kosen

We must find the right balance between tradition and freedom. That is what we do in our sangha.
