Question
I am a great admirer of Simone Weil, the French philosopher and disciple of Alain, and would like to know whether the monk Kosen knows her and has had the opportunity to read her work.
The monk Kosen seems interested in a certain “engaged” vision of Buddhism, and I believe discovering Simone Weil might interest him particularly in that regard. Also, near the end of her life, Simone knew Lanza del Vasto, founder of the Communities of the Ark. Her brother, André Weil, was a very great mathematician (he worked alongside Einstein), and I understand some of the monk Kosen’s disciples are scientists.
Thank you in advance for the information.
Happy practice of the “great sitting.”
Best regards,
Stéphane Broux
Answer from Master Kosen
I know Simone Weil and have loved her for a long time. I also knew Lanza, his wife, and the Community of the Ark, which I still visit from time to time.
