Question
If a master gives shiho to a monk, do that master’s disciples who practice in the dojo of the monk who has just become a master become this new master’s disciples? Must they choose which master to follow? Are they disciples of both masters?

Answer from Master Kosen
They are disciples of the dojo’s master, of the master who transmitted shiho to him, and of the master who transmitted shiho to the one who transmitted it to the dojo’s master, and so on…
We must follow the cosmic order rather than criticize and make categories. Shiho is meant to strengthen the sangha and Dharma. It must not serve to strengthen the ego.
