Question
My son feels intense hatred toward me and sends me hostile, insulting emails. I suffer enormously from this and feel anxious because he has suicidal tendencies. His problem is that he sees only the negative side of everyone. He blames me for giving him life. He is unhappy, and I suffer because of it. How should I respond? Send him a message explaining that these accusations are unjustified, or remain silent to avoid unintentionally saying things that might hurt him, given his negative outlook? Thank you for your answer.

Tell him that whatever happens and whatever he blames you for, you love him unconditionally. But that, all the same, as long as he places responsibility for his life on others—whatever happened in the past—he will be unable to move forward, grow, and free himself.
