Meditating every day

Question

Hello, Master Kosen,

I wonder: what makes us meditate every day? I am afraid of losing my motivation. I know that if I stop for even a few days, I will "forget"; my brain will do its job of clearing away everything it finds irrational. Also, I find that once I set aside my usual motivations—social recognition, changing or becoming better, and the variety of usual goals and psychological weaknesses... what remains? Étienne Zeisler's book mentions shame (according to his book "The Song of Silent Illumination," Master Deshimaru nearly missed a zazen session and finally went for that reason), which I interpret as a kind of social cohesion, but I have trouble understanding.

Answer from Master Kosen

As soon as we practice the Buddha's posture with body and mind, we can attune ourselves to the source of space-time. We enter into harmonic resonance with this inexhaustible source of energy, coherence, and connectedness.

Connectedness means we do not practice only for ourselves.
