Love and compassion

Question

Aren’t love and compassion “too much” in relation to emptiness? I feel resistance to practice within myself because of contradictions I cannot resolve.

Master Kosen’s answer

Zazen itself is love and compassion; that is the very nature of contemplation. Everything in the universe, since time without beginning, is born of contemplation, which is in fact nothing but love and compassion. When God contemplated himself, light burst forth from that singularity, which was really nothing other than the birth of love and compassion.
