Someone could use it to forge a certificate of Dharma affiliation that might seem credible to people unfamiliar with this kind of document. Two years ago, I encountered an individual who had invented a fictitious lineage. This person passes himself off as a Zen master in the Soto transmission.
Please consider the wisdom of keeping this document secret.

There is nothing to hide. If people want to cheat, that is their problem. Even with stacks of certificates, you can still be inauthentic.
Why worry about things like that? In France, we say, “God will know his own.”
