Laziness

Question

Another serious subject: I am very lazy. I like daydreaming, hanging around, and doing nothing. I blame myself terribly, hate myself for it, and end up wallowing in this guilt rather than taking action.

My question: What is laziness? A form of mental illness that can be cured? An ontological deficiency, something like the result of bad karma—you endure it, waste your life, and that's that? And how do I get out of it, if I can?

It's the same mondo as earlier: it concerns master-disciple relationships, the eroticism that inevitably gets mixed in, and blows from the stick (which I no longer receive since my father died).

Thank you very much if you can shed a little light on my darkness (it's a total nebula in there; I need to get out and breathe).

Answer from Master Kosen

I too am very lazy. I like daydreaming and hanging around doing nothing. Don't think I am exaggerating.

But when it comes to having fun, doing something exciting, playing like a child, I can show exceptional energy,

concentration, and tenacity.

Whatever happened to that wonderful time when lazy people were respected?
