Karmic return

Master Kosen – Published on December 21 – karma

Question

Two questions. First, I have practiced for eighteen years, and people keep telling me
I am not in reality. So what is reality?

Second, Master Deshimaru taught that we inevitably return to the
hellish cycle of transmigration if our practice is not
mushotoku. Do we drag this karmic return with us until
death? Thank you, and take care.

Answer from Master Kosen

Being in reality means not separating ourselves from things.

Master Deshimaru used to say: I prefer hell to paradise. At least there you can meet your companions and drink freely with them.
That is being mushotoku.
People who fear the hellish cycle of transmigration are deadly boring.
