Is there a reality that is not empty?

Master Kosen – Published on April 1 – teaching

Question

Reality: emptiness and form.
Is there a reality that is not empty?
Is that what people mean by “God”?
I die, and the world dies. But it is reborn (and so am I) at the same moment. My own master (Soto Zen / White Plum lineage) is traveling, which is why I ask you. I will ask her when she returns.

Answer from Master Kosen

You are asking me questions you can perfectly well answer yourself.
Besides, they remain rather abstract, vaguely metaphysical, and I am sure there are concrete questions that touch and concern you much more than these.
Zen is not an intellectual game. It is about first resolving the real problems of your own life.
