Impermanence

Question

Impermanence is a fact according to Buddhist principles, so what do you think if I say two things are nevertheless permanent: the past, since it cannot be changed, and impermanence itself, since it affects absolutely everything, or almost everything…
Thank you.

Master Kosen’s answer

First, I do not seek to follow any principle, even Buddhist ones, because I wish to think for myself.
Second, I think the past is impermanent and can be changed.
Third, to quote Buddha: “Everything found in the world, outside the world, and supremely beyond the world is only each person’s thoughts: nothing permanent or impermanent.”
