Question
“Master” Kosen: frankly, I admire you! Having myself
done “zazen” with Deshimaru’s survivors and meditation with
Chögyam Trungpa’s survivors, I understand that it is tempting to replace Deshimaru
(in this case) with “oneself,” given what a lucrative, megalomaniacal
business it represents! You also seem inclined toward alter-globalization,
which is better than the fascism you accuse the AZI of. Some of your
answers to those poor people asking for advice made me
laugh… BRAVO, “Master,” you gave me a good time!
If you see the Buddha, kill him!

Answer from Master Kosen
Yet another stock Zen phrase people interpret stupidly through their pitiful little personality, which even practicing the great sitting has never managed to develop.
Who else is there to see but Buddha?
How can you kill what is unborn and immortal?
If you see him outside, you will die; if you see him inside, you have long been dead.
If he sees you from within, he will love and save you; you will never be alone again.
With all my heart.
