Question
Hello, it is so nice to write to you. I am Tamy. Let me tell you, I have a lot of problems with
my parents. They always want everything their way, but that is not always
right. I need to concentrate hard on my studies, but they seem to
care very little about that. What bothers me most is that my brother is lazy: he
wakes up at 3 p.m. and does nothing around the house. I have to do everything,
and if I fail to do some tiny thing, like putting the dishes away, they scold me, and
I always come out of it badly hurt because I feel weak, even though I am
right. I do not feel good at all. I am very sad and do not feel like doing
anything. I cry about everything. I do not want to keep studying, and my partner, who always
supports me, is affected too, and we have problems because of it. I think I have
depression, and I need to know what I can do, how to change my self-esteem, and
how to solve this big problem.
Thank you for everything. Goodbye.

Answer from Master Kosen
Hello, Tamy:
Sometimes we go through states like this; everything seems to be going wrong. Have you tried practicing zazen? With zazen, we can look at our existence differently, see what is happening from a distance, and have the same perspective as the moon looking at the earth.
Best regards.
