Question
I practice martial arts, where people talk about meditation with egos like cathedrals. I study philosophy and encounter only uninspired teachers, bloodless theorists, and careerists draping themselves in intellectual prestige. Outside, people are lost, closed off, aggressive, or submissive. Within me, sex, intellect, and doubt.
I do sense a path, but sometimes I wonder: one more illusion?
Yet something within me moves forward. Toward what?

Answer from Master Kosen
A bit of the blues. Do not be systematically pessimistic. Your view of things must retain an awareness of relativity. “Light exists within darkness; do not see only the dark side. Darkness exists within light; do not see only the bright side.”
