I don’t think that is an answer from someone who wants to help people. You would be better off selling potatoes.

I never said I run an advice column for the lovelorn. I advise people about Zen practice, particularly zazen. But if you have these kinds of questions about very personal problems that are none of my business, why not ask Jean-Luc Delarue or someone like him, or a therapist? At least they get paid to listen to you. That is all I can advise, unless I give you an answer like “Be patient, wait for the right guy.” I prefer making a joke to take the drama out of it. If you had answered me with a laugh, at least it would have helped you take your so-called problem less seriously. And when you laugh at yourself, things already feel better. What problem, in the end????? Ninety percent of men and women have faced the same dilemma as you at some point in their lives, and they didn’t piss off the entire universe over it.
