Question
How can we dissolve a mass of ideas when they inherently depend on one another? How can we feel the idea of freedom, how can we express it? How can we free ourselves from cultures of heritage, from roots that immobilize us? A people, a homeland, a nation, a race: words resting on nothing but division. Where are personal expression and individuality? It is easy to be a replica, a product, where criticism, questioning, reflection, and sensitivity are banished to make room for the guiding force of popularization. Some enthusiasts in search of an identity will argue that their ethnic roots are essential, that we must not forget and must respect traditions, that we must recreate what we came from, preserve that heritage intact, and pass it down to our children. So many moving speeches leading to routine: where is the truth? Just because ignorance is instilled in us does not mean we must take it at face value and pass it on to the first person who comes along, like a virus spreading from generation to generation. Our roots are scientific: we come from our mother’s womb; before that we simply did not exist. So why this enthusiasm for unknown ancestors who might have been unpleasant or stupid? Our real roots from a moral and ethnic standpoint, though, are in Africa. Ah, a large majority reject that idea even though scientists have proof. How degrading to belong to savages! But belonging has no place here. What matters is you and me, not what you associate my build, skin color, or accent with. If I do not feel different, then where is the difference? Anyone who feels different champions superiority or inferiority.

We must return to nonthinking, recover the consciousness we had before we knew how to speak.
