Question
How can I stay Zen at work, especially with coworkers, when I feel they hold something against me but I don’t know what, when they criticize everyone behind their backs, and when I thought one of them was my friend and confided in her, and now they use that to tear me down? How can I stay Zen and enjoy going to work? Please answer if you can help me.

Master Kosen’s answer
We must always find refuge within ourselves; that is what being Zen means. We cannot rely on the outside world: one day yes, the next day no; beautiful today, bitterly cold tomorrow. Superficial relationships are like water in a basket. You can change the reality around you at every
moment—I assure you—because everything emanates from your soul. Love yourself and the entire universe will love you. And even if it doesn’t, what could that matter? If you love yourself, it is God himself who loves you, and I guarantee you are worth it, as the
ad says.
