Question
My daughter is emotionally unstable in her relationships. She left her daughter’s father, and since then she has gone from one man to another. Recently, the man she was living with got drunk (as he regularly did), and after a remark he didn’t like, he punched her in the face and slammed her against a radiator, in front of several people, including my granddaughter. They both came to my house. The child is traumatized. Her mother went back to live with the alcoholic, saying she couldn’t sneak away from the house like a thief. What should I do to protect this child? I can’t see myself accepting that she go back to live with this man, whom I consider dangerous.
