Question
I would like to know whether, at the end of a zazen session or after performing a ‘noble’ act, it is possible to wish for the resulting merits to directly help the person we are thinking of who is in difficulty.
More specifically, in zazen we accumulate """virtuous""" karma. Is it possible to direct this virtuous karma, through thought, toward someone in difficulty in order to help them? Basically, it means giving up the benefits the karma accumulated in zazen might bring us in order to redistribute them to people suffering more than we are… I do this regularly. Is it pointless? Please enlighten me, if possible with an answer that is not too terse.
Thank you for your commitment.
