He always wanted me to ask him questions, to do what he called “mondo theater,” and I did not hold back. I always had questions, and if he were still here, I would still have questions for him.
Once I asked, “Master, since you are a Buddha and awakened, and since this world emanates from your own mind, why is it so imperfect?”
He told me, “Later, you will understand…”
Then one day, I read in a sutra that Shariputra had asked his master, Buddha Shakyamuni, the same question, and I got the answer.
