Question
Hello, Barbara, and hello, Stéphane. First, with your permission, Stéphane, I would like to thank Barbara for translating the questions into Spanish and French. I come from Santiago, Chile… (the great wines!!) I have practiced regularly for nine months in the only dojo that follows your master’s teaching. My question is this: A while ago, I read in a specialized Zen magazine that Master Deshimaru urged people to follow ten precepts drawn from Zen. Among these ten, one particularly caught my attention… literally:
“Be afraid. Of what? Of the cosmic order. You must not be afraid of anything else. But the cosmic order—you must fear it, respect it.”
So my question is:
Why must we fear the cosmic order?
Thank you, Master Kosen, and thank you, Master Barbara Kosen.

Answer from Master Kosen
What is the cosmic order we should fear?
The cosmic order is you, and particularly your consciousness and thoughts. In other words, if you do not control your emotions and thoughts, you have reason to be afraid, because anything can happen.
